Overview:

This independent study focuses on the understanding acidosis and alkalosis analyzing arterial blood gas results, and provides case studies to help you practice.

Purpose/Goal: To provide nurses with information so they can better care for patients with an acid-base imbalance.


Objectives:

1. Identify four disturbances of acid-base balance.
2. Discuss nursing interventions for patients with acid-base imbalances.
3. Describe how to interpret arterial blood gas values.
