Overview:

It has been shown that genetic variations can cause varying responses to drugs such as warfarin, so nurses need to understand the clinical implications of pharmacogenetics.

Purpose/Goal: To enhance nurses’ understanding of pharmacogenetics.


Objectives:

1. Define the science of pharmacogenetics.
2. Discuss clinical applications of pharmacogenetics.
3. Identify the current status of pharmacogenetic drug testing.
